Pickling Line

For the production of first class cold rolled steel strip, it is essential that thesurface of the material should be free from scale and other impurities, if any, which are formed during hot rolling process. Hot rolled coils are pickled in acid medium to remove scales and rust.

Cold Rolling

4 Hi Rolling Mill & 20 Hi Rolling Mill

The pickled coils are taken up in the Rolling Mill for cold reduction to achieve the desired thickness. Here the thickness of the strip is successively reduced to the required gauge and in this process the strip gets a uniform thickness and bright smooth surface.

Rewinding

Since the material is rolled with high tension, it is necessary to wind the coils under low tension to facilitate annealing and avoid sticker breaks. In addition to loose winding, surface wiping is also carried out at this stage.

Annealing in bell type Furnace (3 furnaces)

As most of the end applications demand soft material, the rolled coils are annealed in Bell type Annealing furnace maintaining an inert atmosphere of N2 + H2. As a result the coils become soft maintaining its bright surface finish.

Skin Pass

In order to attain the ultimate mechanical and physical properties as specified by the customer the annealed coils are given marginal reduction of 0.50 % to 2% depending upon the desired specification. In addition, the pronounced yield point is obviated and surface finish is improved. Surface finish, whether bright or matt, is also achieved by using suitable rolls.

Sitting Line

After the coils are rolled to the desired thickness and hardness it is rotary sheared in the required widths maintaining close width tolerances. To ensure the required accuracy and fine cutting edge, precision cutters are deployed.

Cut To Length(1 Line)

If straight lengths are required, the coils are roller flattened and cut to a predetermined length in cut to length machine.

Packing

The finished material is oiled with rust preventives and packed in HM Plastic, Polythene Hessian, VCI paper to prevent rust in storage. This is done as per the coil / bundle weight required by the customer. These coils/bundles are palletized to prevent damage in transit.
